Viking jewelry is more than an accessory, it also carries the epic sagas from the Viking age and captures the strength of the legendary Norse warriors. Through finely detailed designs and symbolic motifs, you are welcomed into the core of this historic culture and take part in a narrative that transcends centuries.
The Sagastad collection is designed by Kathrine Berg, crafted by Sylvsmidja and developed in collaboration with the Sagastad Viking Center. Inspired by the Myklebust ship, a Viking ship from the 900s found in Nordfjordeid and the largest ever discovered, this jewelry collection honors the rich history and discoveries made in the burial mounds of this region.

The Sagastad collection consists of 5 different series with earrings, pendants, charms, necklaces, rings, and bracelets.
The Ingerid line is named after Ingerid Ragnvaldsdotter who was the queen of Norway in the 12th century. The design is inspired by a silver bead with spiral décor, found at a 10th-century burial mound in Nordfjordeid. The spiral symbolizes eternal life, growth, and renewal - reflecting the Vikings' deep connection to nature and the unknown.
Named after the Viking king of the fjords, Audbjørn, who battled against Harald Hairfair in the 860s. The design is inspired by a pattern from a Viking sword found in a burial mound that dates to the early 900s.
The design of the Naglfar series is inspired by the angular shapes of the crucial iron rivets in the Myklebust ship, and the handle on a staff found in a female grave from the 10th century. The name is rooted in Norse Mythology, where Naglfar is the world’s largest Viking ship, destined to set sail into Ragnarok, the catastrophic end of the old world and rebirth of a new.
The Myklebust Man – This series showcases a human head design from an 8th century Celtic bronze bowl, possibly looted from an Irish monastery by King Audbjørn, the Viking king of the Fjords in the 9th century. Interestingly, among the Myklebust findings, his remains were found in this bowl, signifying its importance, not only in his life but also in his journey to Valhalla in the afterlife.
The Myklebust Ship – Remains of a burnt ship in a burial mound, dating from the latter half of 9th century, have been named after the farm where they were discovered in Nordfjordeid. This is the largest Viking ship ever found, and the inspiration to this series.
The silver we use is recycled, and our collection is defined by superior craftsmanship and precise attention to details. The rich, rustic appearance is made through an oxidation process of the silver, capturing the essence of Viking jewelry with its symbols of Viking bravery, protection, and their rich cultural beliefs.
